As Seen on TV
Here’s the new smartphone, with a better ring tone
Has a bigger big thing, give the dog a bone
Five six seven eight when will it depreciate
Not this phone, you can get a loan
Love this new car, it’ll get you far
Turn up the heat, race it down the street
Drive into nature and park on a glacier
Open up the sunroof and watch the Milky Way
As seen on TV
Losing your endurance? Get some insurance
This little pill will take you up the hill
Try this new toothbrush, you will get a head rush
And no more cavities. But for depravity
Here’s a sweeter soda endorsed by Yoda
Watch more politics and watch more Netflix
With a frozen pizza, and Milk of Magnesia
See Black Mirror and make the future clearer
As seen on TV
This is evolution, this is a solution
This is the day to make a resolution
Just the right thing to give a little zing
You can afford it thousands have scored it
Don’t wait for payday you deserve a me day
We've got the lawyer to deal with your employer
Love it or leave it or maybe just heave it
Take an ocean cruise on the pretty plastic seas

This Is Not Who We Are

This Is Not Who We Are
We value all people, all our customers
Their complete satisfaction is our priority
We want to help everybody to reach their full potential
Our goal is to treat all people with dignity and respect
We strive to please our clients no matter who they are
As per the wording of our mission statement
We want to meet and even exceed all your expectations
We’re very disappointed if we have let you down
Those things that were recorded
On a bystander’s phone
Do not reflect our values
This is not who we are
The employees in question are no longer with the company
To guide us moving forward we have retained a consultant
We regret any inconvenience this matter may have caused
And hereby we offer a discount for your next purchase
Those things that were recorded
On a bystander’s phone
Do not reflect our values
This is not who we are

My Secret Audience
Meet my secret audience
I can’t tell you where or whence
Day and nighttime I can sense
My secret audience
On a bad day there’s a frown
And I’m left there feeling down
Like a faded shanty town
On a bad day there’s a frown
On a good day it's applause
Subtle smiles and dim hurrahs
I don’t understand the cause
On a good day it's applause
Meet my secret audience
I can’t tell you where or whence
Day and nighttime I can sense
My secret audience

Beneath the Snow

As a boy I lived in a small town in northern British Columbia. Shortly after we moved there from Ontario, my older brother died in an accident. Eventually we moved away and I never returned until many years later, when I travelled north for a work project. On impulse I rented a car and drove several hours to visit the cemetery, which is situated on the side of a mountain. I arrived to find the grounds buried in deep snow. I stood there awhile, feeling numb, just as I had felt as a kid in the very same place so many years ago. So I went back to town, found a place where I could warm my hands and feet, took a corner table and wrote the poem on which this song is based. And that's what I found there, beneath the snow.
beneath the snow
i came to find you
this winter
after all these years
i came to find you
this winter
in this northern town
where we rode our bikes
down dusty roads
and laughed about everything
I came to find you in this frozen town
this place has grown old
not the town i once knew
its face is worn
its spirit old
hiding in the forest
by the river
flowing dark and cold
beyond the edges of this frozen town
i could not find your name
etched in granite
beneath the snow
i could not feel
the scars and wounds
in silence
we have bled
i came to find you this winter
in this northern town

This Time
This time I follow, follow wherever it goes
This time I’m going, rolling where the wind blows
Oh no it’s never too late
Who knows whatever awaits
This time I follow, follow wherever it goes
This time I listen, listen to my heart
This time I make time, take time for a new start
Oh no it’s never too late
Who knows whatever awaits
This time I listen, listen to my heart
